The Construction of Parappally :

For the realization of a long-cherished dream, the Catholics of Karinkulam Kaithachira decided on 5 May 2003 to build their own church in the name of the Holy Family in the 62 cents of land they had purchased for that purpose. Before that as per the special order from mar Jacob Manathodath of Palakkad diocese (508/2002) Holy Mass had been celebrated in a house at Kayarady and in the school building. In a meeting convened on 1 March 2003 it was decided to build a church in the name of Blessed Mother Teresa. The decision to dedicate the church to Blessed Mother Teresa was very significant because she had been an apostle of service and love towards people of all religions, castes and creeds and in all geographical regions.

The foundation stone for the Kayarady Mother Teresa church was laid by Mar Jacob Manathodath on 22 April 2003. God showered His blessings on the people and their noble attempt. The work began on 25 May 2003. The special interest of the bishop of Palakkad, the spirited initiative and leadership of Rev Fr Jose Kannampuzha, the hard work of the parishioners, the support of all the people of the area, and the rich blessings of God contributed significantly to the quick completion of the church. Quite surprisingly the beautiful granite building was complete within 147 days. On 19 October when Mother Teresa was elevated to the status of the Blessed, the church was consecrated by Mar Jacob Manathodath. The sacred relic of Mother Teresa was placed for public worship also. That day was a red letter day for all the inhabitants of Kayarady. On 30 January 2005 Mar Jacob Manathodath elevated the Parappally church to the status of an independent parish (order number 83/2005/21-01-2005). Rev Fr Jose Kannampuzha was appointed as the first vicar.
